steve - i got this info in a response from BOBBI CORDI - apparently there
is a ban in effect to import these shells into this country (i suspect
there is a great amount of garbled legal jargon that is aimed at curbing
any more decimating of the wild clams still out there on the reefs) -  but
dealing in existing shells should not be a problem i would hope -
especially since as you say they are farmed for aquariums even as we type -

it is?  they still sell them live for reef aquariums up to 8 or 9
inches, and i don't think they are farmed successfully yet, but they may
be...  where did you see that taking them is illegal, and in which
countries?  It's entirely possible they are illegal to take in certain
countries, but i think the reef dealers are getting them from
somewhere...
