Ellen,

I have three dogs: Cenedra, Xena, and Sydney. Each name has a bit of
history attached; but bottom line, all know their names - no problem. Even
their nicknames like Ned, Zuegger, and Syd.

Shell related, I have been trying without luck to find the etymology of
Nerita longii Recluz, 1842. I figure it is named after someone named Long
as Reeve calls it Long's nerite. But so far I haven't found anyone that
might be the right person. So if any of you know of a Long who may have
collected shells in the mid 1800s, please let me know. Thanks,

Tom Eichhorst
