I have found live C. granulatus in in Honduras.
I concur with Wayne's light assessment.

During times of bright moons and no cloud cover they were almost nowhere to be
found.

David,
I have found live C. granulatus in the Grenadines -- but never in the
daytime. They are very shy about daylight and even bright moonlight. They
are usually associated with dead areas of reef structures where they feed on
the shiny black coral boring worms.
