Dear Doug,
 
I can't help you on the taxonomic matters other than to have you consider an
Indo-Pacific origin and look through Joe Rosewater's monograph in
Indo-Pacific Mollusca 1(4): 175-226. (Sept. 28, 1961).
 
You may have the largest shelled mollusk in the Western Hemisphere!
