This is bad news. Even if they identify a pathogen, what can they do
about it? If it's viral they may not even be able to determine the
correct virus...

HOPEFULLY this disease will be selfregulating, and eventually decline
and disappear. If not, it's an awful thought.

I assume it only attacks hermatypic (reef-forming) corals?
