PS: 99% of the snails visable from standing position during the recent heavy
rains here were another non-native, Bradybaena similaris. There were
thousands of them. You could not walk without crushing some of them in
certain areas, and many seem to have drowned.
The Euglandina are not doing a very good job. Why do they wipe out native
species in foreign lands, but not foreign species at home?
On a positive note, our native Gastrocopta and Succinea species are just as
prentiful, though not as easy to see.
