This will not help you out with a GEM argo but if anyone has to deal with
children and want to allow them free handling this helps;  I get a clear
plastic box, a dab of hot glue or any glue that will hold, purchase an
inexpensive argo and glue the shell to one side of the box.  Then either
glue or use scotch tape to close the box.  Many little hands have oohed and
awed over a cheap argo I keep on hand just for them.

While we are on the topic of storing shells in cotton, I would like to take
my Paper Nautilus, I believe it to be Argonauta argo, out of its cotton
storage and display it, but in a safe manner.  There is a two-year old
grandson on the loose.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to safely display shells as fragile as
A. argo?
