Dear Linda;-
  If Jose says "Tollini", let it stand. He deserves to be right. There are several other Eps that can be found on and around Sanibel. The most common are : Angulatum, Humphrysi, Multistriatum and Rupicola. (I know---they don't deserve capital letters.) They are all fairly distinctive. rupicola Kurtz, 1860 had a general brownish color with occasional white varices.
   Multistriatum (Say, 1826) has "multi" many close set costae. Angulatum (Say, 1830) is the most common, chunky looking with 9-12 thick costae per whorl. It is a variable species---probably depending on what it had for breakfast. Humphrysi (Keiner, 1838) looks a lot like angulatum but is thinner, deep sutures.
   There are other less common species. If you don't have a copy, get Jose to let you peruse his copy of The Wentletrap Book (Weil, Brown, Neville)
