Subject: prehistoric oyster shell found on Guam

Around my house in the Marianas Islands of Micronesia, we collected many
fossils of clams, scallops and sea snails (none which are currently
indiginous) typically embedded in the coral.  On one day, after clearing
some jungle,  my son picked up a rock from the uncovered dirt, which
turned out to be the lower half of an oyster shell.   It is bigger than
a palm of a hand, of very good quality and excellent detail,  rocklike
-  much thicker than a typical oyster.   It is a strange find since our
house sits 200 feet above sea level, and there are absolutely no oysters
on Guam or Saipan, nor in that
part of the world.   Do you know, or could you refer me to anyone who
could tell me how it got there and how old is it.  We live in Boston
now, but still have our home in the Marianas.   Thanks and Best
