For NE Pacific shells (bivalves and others) Coan et al (2000) have a very
detailed section of citations for generic,family level, designation of type
specimens. I often go to it for reference materials. The literature cited is
on a Procite 4.01 data base available through the Santa Barbara Museum of
Natural History.
