Re swimming shells:
 
Agaronia have a huge foot and are able to surf and swim to keep in their
preferred habitat of high surf zone. The same with Olivellas. Collect one
of these guys and put it in a vial with water and see it try to get out by
swimming frantically. It can keep it up for a couple of seconds at least.
