There appears to be 4 species of Janthiniidae. They are J. janthina L.
1758, J. globosa Swainson, 1822, J. exigua Lam. 1816, and J. pallida
Thompson, 1840.
   There are also the uncommon Recluzia, a brown pelagic shell.
    Janthina has long been a source of purple dye.
