The habitat for Purpura patula (and other Purpuras I know of) is
wave-washed rocks above the mid tide line - they don't like to get wet much
- usually right on the ocean, never in a quiet bay. There isn't much of
this habitat in Florida, especially north of the Keys. I don't think I've
ever found any in Florida.
