It has come to our atention that the "perc" used by Cones is generally
so small as to be quite incabable of providing any protection to the
mollusk. So the question is: Why does the Cone have a perc at all? Why
isn't it larger? Is the Cone experiencing some evolutionary change in
which the perc is just developing or (on the other hand) disappearing?
