In an attempt to turn this non shell related (sports related, actually) line
of messages back on track, I ask the following question: Why are there no pro
teams named after molluscs? Vertebrate species seem to have an absolute
monopoly on team names (Bears, Tigers, Marlins, Dolphins, Jaguars, Broncos,
etc., etc.). I can think of many great molluscan names that any city would be
proud to call their own. How about the Cincinnati Slugs? The Minnesota River
Mussels? The Oregon Octopi? .......
