Hi Sylvia,

In the past I've used lapidary-type saws. Cut a Strombus gigas in half with one
of the large enclosed saws (with a vise to hold the shell securely). Smaller
shells I've cut with a slab trim saw. Down side is getting the smelly kerosene
used as a lubricant out of the shell afterwards. Didn't have access to a tile
saw...sounds like a cleaner option for smaller hand-held cutting jobs.
