>The type species of Lunatia is Natica ampullaria Sowerby (which is a synonym
>of the well-known Western Atlantic species Natica heros Say, 1822).
Natica ampullaria was named by Lamarck, 1822. What is Natica ampullaria
Sowerby? Tryon (1886) suggested that N. ampullaria Lamarck, 1822 was the
same as Natica heros Say, 1822. However, Lamarck's work was published in
April and Say's in July 1822, so Euspira ampullaria should be the correct
name, if the synonymy is correct.
