Hi to those interested in Australian land snails
There are 8 currently recognised genera of Australian Rhytididae, with the
genus Strangesta containing the most species, including several large
species found in the rainforests of northern New South Wales and southern
Queensland. The species name maxima has been given to the largest form
found around Brisbane and south to the Border Ranges, spanning the New
South Wales - Queensland border area. It would appear to represent a valid
species.
This is yet another reason to be careful how you use Vaught and more
recently Millard. People may thick that these two works are OK, but
certainly from the Australian fauna point of view there are numerous
errors, some of them very glaring.
