I have not received a reply (yet) from the person asking about the sinistral
fossil cowry from Florida. I have forwarded her message on to the LIST in hopes
that someone may recognize who this is.
There are a few references to fossil Cypraea in the Archive HSN section of
cowrys.org. These can be browsed at http://cowrys.org/archive/NSN163CY.HTM#E or
http://cowrys.org/archive/NSN166CY.HTM#B or
http://cowrys.org/archive/NSN175CY.HTM#D .
Thanks again and Aloha,
Bob Dayle

Subject: sinistral cypraea info

Sir
I found a sinistral fossil cypraea in Florida last year. I realized that the
specimen was sinistral just several months later, when I was storing the shell
at my home in Italy. I surfed the web looking for information about sinistral
cypraeae, and your site seems to be the only place where this type of shell is
considerated.
I understand you study modern shells. Do you have any information about fossil
sinistral cypraeae? Have you never heard about them?
Thank you... and Happy New Year
Diana
