Hello Patti in New Mexico!
Thanks for the e-mail. And yes, this is for my Pecten collection (well, the
one I'm just starting), not for eating (I think they'd be pretty stinky by
the time they got all the way over here). I have some pretty amazing
Argopecten gibbus that I could send you in trade, including some that are
bright orange! I truly appreciate your generous offer. Still, when I recall
all the hundreds I saw at the marrkets, you'd think there'd be a way to get
pretty much as many as you wanted if you were to find the right people. I'm
fortunate enough to be near a calico scallop offloading station, so I get
to stand at the conveyor and pick out the best ones for my collection.
About 1 in 200 or so is a keeper, the rest are pretty similar in color and
pattern.
Regards,
Jim
