Don't forget the Conus obscurus on the list of cones that can sting
seriously. If you are foolish enough to put one in a watch cap on your
head for temporary storage, it can cause you to have to think about
breathing for several hours. I would assume the closely related C.
tulipa would have about the same potentcy. Conus obscurus has been a
fruitful source of conus venom for a number of pharmaceutical develepors
as it has over a hundred separate venom types included in its venom. No
known fatal bites however.
