New Conference Highlights Digital Technology
"Mapping & Remote Sensing Tools for the 21st Century" is a new meeting
that focuses on the rapidly growing integration of digital-spatial and remotely
sensed
data. It will cover: Softcopy Photogrammetry, Image Registration, Digital Orthop
hoto
Databases, and Airborne GPS, with a feature emphasis on Public/Private Interacti
on.
The conference, scheduled for 26-29 August 1994 at the Sheraton Washington Hotel
,
Washington, DC, is sponsored by the American Society for Photogrammetry and
Remote Sensing (ASPRS) and co-sponsored by the Management Association for
Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS).
This first-of-its-kind event features a single-session format so that atten
dees

the
costs to attend. All presenters will be invited to participate, ensuring the pre
sence of
the leading experts in the many topics to be covered. The sessions will follow t
he
softcopy process from data acquisition, enhancement, and compilation, through ou
tput
for many applications.
"Mapping & Remote Sensing Tools for the 21st Century" will provide the
latest technical-, commercial-, and applications-oriented information available
to
professionals involved with, or interested in learning more about, GIS, image
processing and registration, GPS, photogrammetric mapping, digital data acquisit
ion,
and mapping services contracting.
The exhibition hall, open 27-29 August, will showcase the latest products a
nd
services in the field. A separate Learning Forum, where exhibitors will be able
to
hold private, uninterrupted demonstrations, will allow attendees to get hands-on
experience with the various products on display.
The first day of the conference, 26 August, will be devoted to all-day
workshops. Planned topics include Softcopy Photogrammetry, GPS Photogrammetry,
Business Aspects of Digital Mapping Services, Digital Data for Infrastructure
Management, Digital Orthophotos for GIS, and Softcopy Photogrammetry for Non-
Photogrammetrists.
