It's not a ballad and while it's not quite like most of the things
mentioned, I was really impressed last year to come across a CD
called In the Wake of the Wind by David Arkenstone.  What was most
interesting about the CD was that the box and the jewel case have
a made up set of continents and islands which are related to the
music.  The music seems to have a fractal quality so I've been
trying to find out whether the music (which is electronically created
rather than acoustically created) is actually fractal.
 
If you like New Age music and/or electronic music, you might want to
take a look at this one.
