Laurie Allen asks what to do with a large stack of pre-1900
bathymetric charts.
1. Q: Are these useful maps?
A: NO! NO! Except, if your rear main-seal leaks on
your car and you need something to soak up the
30 weight oil that's been dripping on your garage
floor.
2. Q: Are they valuable maps?
A: Absolutely not. No way. To see what I mean, just
try to give them away to AMVETS or GOODWILL. Their
truck driver will likely be more insulted than if
you tried to unload that old couch with Golden
Retriever slobber all over it.
3. Q: Should I save them or pitch them?
A: Oh Definitely don't save them. Gads no. Best to pitch
them. Except, I've just thought of something. The
walk to the dumpster is probably a lot farther away
then your outgoing mail table. So hey. Just package
them up, affix the handy little address label I've
provided below, and let the mail people handle this
junk. Believe me. It's the right decision.
