----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Dear Map Librarians - Richard Abler came to the SLA G&M Open House and asked
for help locating some railroad maps. I said I would forward his requests
to MAPS-L. You can respong directly to him. I hope someone has some leads
for him.

Here is his request:

As I mentioned in Cincy, I'm interested in old RR maps. But my interest is a
quite narrow one at this time. The problem is, I don't know where to start, as
I've not gone map hunting before.
My specific interest in old RR maps is of an area in Wisconsin between Fond du
Lac and Sheboygan (east central WI). I recently found a timetable for the
passenger trains over this route in the 1920's. My mother (d. 1992) used to
tell me that she took the train from Calvary to Fond du Lac.
I'm interested in what the RR track layouts were in Calvary, Malone, Silica,
and Peebles WI - all small towns along the route above. I'm interested in
knowing what these towns looked like in the 20's and 30's, which would have
been the peak of RR activity.
The railroad was the Chicago & Northwestern RR. Perhaps if the C&NW RR has a
library they would have what I'm looking for? Interlibrary loan would be OK
with me and I'm willing to pay for reproduction of anything that would answer
my search questions above.
Mary, where would you suggest I start looking?
Thanks for your assistance!
Richard
