Dear Mapsters,
Apologies for poor recordkeeping on my part. A while back several of
you were kind enough to refer me to a schematic map which named the
various parts of a map, or perhaps a globe.
I am seeking the citations you all kindly volunteered, and did not
find anything in my hardcopy of maphist, and the cdrom is not in...
What I seek is something like the design in Frank Manasek's book on
Map Collecting, but with more elements named, as in rhumblines,
compass rose, scale, cartouche, neatline, grid, latitude, longitude,
etc. Probably not much more would be labelled on an antique map or
chart. What I want is the visual effect, not a list of definitions!
Seems to me someone last time around did mention such a map--I have
searched on my own and not found anything.
Many thanks, Alice Hudson [log in to unmask]
