The Govt. Docs. librarian here brought this to my attention. I'm amazed
that the sender didn't send it to Maps-l, but...
"The University of Pittsburgh Library System has recently formed a
Maps Task Force to try and get a handle on our map and atlas collections.
We will be considering the current state of affairs, access to the collec
tion, acquisitions, processing and service. We will be surveying the
collections around the university libraries, talking with library staff,
and setting up a non-library faculty advisory group. One this we plan
to do is identify well-run map collections to visit and consult with.
While we are particularly interested in map collections at institutions
within 4-5 hours of Pittsburgh, we are willing to consider traveling
to others who can help us.
Please send responses to me or the listserver. Thanks for any help,
advice, or recommendations. M.B. Miller [log in to unmask]
