Perhaps the map librarian community is not aware that the College Park
campus of the University of Maryland has a special program offered jointly
by the College of Library and Information Services and the Department of
Geography - in which students can, at the graduate level, do work in
geographic information systems and library and information science courses.
Currently the program leads to dual masters degrees, MLS and MA.
I shall welcome enquiries to the personal e-mail address given below. I also
welcome comments from librarians and students seeking professional
advancement as to what courses they may be interested in. Also, many
research libraries across the country are participating in a GIS Literacy
Project established by the A.R.L.
