We are in need of simple map-producing software with an attached map
library that will at least allow us to plot sites (as scalable dots) by
entering geographical coordinates at the (provincial,) country and
continent levels. We are not necessarily interested in a bona fide GIS
system, but software replete with a map library that contains various
optional layers of detail (major towns, river systems, etc) would be
advantageous.

Ideally, we would like to be able to link this with databases (FoxPro/
dBASE) but our primary concern is to be able to quickly produce maps
depicting sites (as geographically "precise" points). Would anyone be
able to recommend any software (and its distributors' contact details)
that will meet this need?

Thank you very much for your Urgent advice.
