Position Title: Contract Software Development Geographer
Note: This is a temporary contract position with Microsoft Corporation
in Redmond, Washington
Responsibilities:
Will work closely with thematic lead on process prototyping, data
evaluation, or tool development.
Will assist the lead in defining sources, acquiring data, data
conversion, and provide feedback on
geographic modeling procedures and data schema. Will be responsible
for fixing data bugs.
The Arc/Info Geographic Information System (GIS) will be the primary
tool a geographer uses to
complete the above responsibilities.
Qualifications:
This is a technical position requiring at least three years experience
in the
Arc/Info Geographic Information System (GIS). Experience with
Arc/Info's Network
Module is required. Experience or education in world and/or regional
geography is
required. The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of
geography,
geographic/cartographic principles and familiarity with digital
spatial data. BA or BS
in Geography or related field required. Experience may be a substitute
for education
in specific cases. Knowledge of most Arc/Info modules and exposure to
AML required.
Knowledge of UNIX, and Windows computing environments required.
Salary is negotiable and is dependent on level of education and
experience.
