When I read the question about Middletown, Calif., I thought to look it up
in my 1995 edition of the Rand McNally Road Atlas, but on second thought I
did not do it. Considering the large amount of Americans on this list I
thought being number umpteen with this answer.
I am surprised on the answers referring to:
- their high school team used to play ours
- Columbia-Lippincott gazetteer of the world, 1962
- Hammond's World Atlas (Ambassador Edition)
- What is the zipcode for Middletown?
Now I looked it up in Rand McNally, and indeed, it is in southern Lake
County. The index even gives the number of inhabitants, 2000.
I hope Darius Bartlett got off list a lot of references to road maps and
atlases, otherwise Rand McNally and colleagues have to dismiss their
advertising agencies :)
