Darius;
There are soviet military 1:200,000 and 1:50,000 topographic maps available
for Afghanistan (but not cheap unfortunately). You might be able to arrange
either copies or ILL through Harvard or New York Public Library who should
have the 1:200,000 sets.
There are a few older, generally low quality geo-scientific maps available
as well (see our web site at http://www.omnimap.com).
Give a yell if you want more specifics.
