Just saw a review of this book...poor citation,no isbn or date
Never mind, just got it out of RLIN: 1570621969, and 1996 is date.
A Mapmaker's Dream: The meditations of Fra Mauro, Cartographer to the
Court of Venice by James Cowan. Shambala, 208 p. $18.00 cloth
"Written in the form of a journal by a sixteenth century monk, the
novel assembles the curious tales of explorers who inform the brother
as he draws a map of the world."
Anyway the book gets a mixed review [ he calls it a post-modern
nightmare... ] in a coffee zine called "Literal Latte: stimulating
prose, poetry and art." No date on the torn out page someone gave me,
so I presume it is recent, perhaps September 1996.
