Hello to all of you,
Since this is my first e-mail on this list, please forgive me if I make mistakes.
I have a question for all of you but first, I must give you some background. I aam working for the Canada Centre for Topographical Information (formerly the Canada Centre for Geomatics). Our mandate is to establish and maintain the National Topographic Data Base (NTDB). One of the product of this data base (besides the digital topo files themselves) is the topographical paper maps of Canada at a scale of 1:50 000 and 1:250 000.
We are now beginning a new project that will try to automate, as much as possible, the production of the topo paper maps from the NTDB. We are thinking of possible modifications of the NTDB specifications and/or modifications to the cartographic specifications. The project might include software developments or acquisition of existing systems.
Then my question is: Is there any organizations that has dealed with such a challenge? Or is there any organizations working on such a project (is a joint venture possible?)
Sorry but at this investigation stage, I am not looking for compagnies producing systems. I am more interested in getting feedback from maps specialists.
Any information will help me. Thanks in advance!
Marc LeMaire
