Please plan to attend the GODORT Update at ALA Midwinter on Saturday,
January 21, 2006 from 10:30am - 12:30pm in the Henry B. Gonzales Convention
Center Room 103 B.
Featured speakers include:
Beverly Pecotte,Texas State Data Center, will discuss current Data
Center issues and trends.
Chenglin Liu, University of Houston Law Library, will address
recent changes in World Health Organization regulations and implications
for member countries in preventing bird flu and other pandemics. While
globalization has facilitated world trade and economic growth, it has also
enabled regional epidemics to spread at unprecedented speed
worldwide. A chilling example is the SARS epidemic, which started in China
and quickly spread to two dozen countries. This program will explore
recent changes in World Health Organization international health
regulations and how WHO member countries may cope with the changes in order
to prevent bird flu and other pandemics.

Best wishes,
