FourBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:The Digital Conversion Specialist
assists in creating or coordinating thecreation of digital
reproductions of Library items and associated findingaids;
coordinating the organization, preservation, and description of
originalarchival materials; arranging for and monitoring the work of
contractors; andoverseeing the placement of delivered materials in a
digital repository. TheSpecialist will work with marked-up text,
multi-media formats, or both; andmay assist with materials selection
and preliminary historical research;editorial assistance; and computer
support. The Specialist will assist indeveloping specifications;
requesting cost quotations; may serve as COTR andmonitor workflow to
and from contractors; prepare technical requests/reportsto contractor;
receive deliverables and put them into quality review process;and
write standard operating procedures. The Specialist will serve as
liaisonwith custodial divisions; draft processing plans; determine
technicalrequirements for digital reproductions; prepare
collection-specific backgroundinformation and introductory materials;
determine need for and approach toconversion of data from one format
to another; prepares Statement of Work(SOW) for procurement documents;
coordinate procurement process with others;determine present standards
and establish requirements for delivered product;and perform other
duties related to the National Digital Library program.Full text of
