Thank you for all your responses.  The GODORT Nominating Committee is
gathering a very strong slate of candidates for offices but it is not too
late to volunteer.  We would especially encourage those of you new to
GODORT and/or government information to become involved.

                        GODORT 1999 ELECTIONS
        All Nominations must be received by December 31, 1998.
 
 
Get involved in GODORT today and make a difference in the world of
government information access, libraries, and ALA policy.  With the fast
pace changes in government information, revision of the depository system,
and GODORTs stronger ALA presence with councilor representation, this is
an exciting and challenging time.  Whatever your skills and interest,
there is a place for you in GODORT.  Consider running for:

***This will be the first ever election of a GODORT Councilor.  The
Councilor represents the interests of the Government Documents Round Table
on the ALA Council.  The GODORT Councilor is a member of the Steering
Committee and serves on its Executive Committee.  The Councilor serves as
an ex-officio member of the GODORT Legislation Committee.
 
The Councilor reports to the GODORT Steering Committee and to the
membership on ALA Council activities, and presents those ALA issues and
Council documents upon which the Steering Committee may wish to act.  The
Councilor receives direction from the Steering Committee regarding
positions to be taken on ALA Council issues, and sponsors Council
resolutions as requested by the Steering Committee.
