For the first time in my career, a map has crossed my desk which
depicts the life travels of a historical individual. This calls
for the use of the subject cutter .A85. Not having seen any other
examples of biographical maps, I'm wondering two things:
* Does it call for a second cutter for the individual? (The G
schedule and LC map cataloging manual don't mention this, and it
probably won't be needed, given the fewness of biographical maps!)
* What date is called for here: publication date or date of situation
(and since it covers a person's whole life, there's no one date to
use if it's the latter that's required)?
I'd get my answers from other cataloging records, but that's the
old needle in a haystack, since I don't know what biographical maps
are out there. Can anyone who has had experience with such maps
give me a hand here, even if just identifying other examples that I
can go check? Thank you much... KR
