For those of you who like to plan ahead, the preliminary program of
MAGERT meetings at ALA has been posted on our Website. The ALA annual
Conference this year will be held in Chicago from July 7-12.
We will be offering two notable programs this year, which should
appeal to a wide range of map librarians. The first will be on
"Acquisition of Electronic Geo-Spatial Data" (or how to feed your GIS),
which will cover data sources of interest to all types of GIS users, from
novice to specialist. The second program is called "Finding the Way:
Access to Cartographic Collections." This program will focus on ways to
organize and retrieve maps for libraries that cannot afford to have their
collections fully cataloged using MARC.
The complete MAGERT program can be found at
<http://www.sunysb.edu/libmap/magert1.htm>. Click on "Meetings and
Conferences."
