This message was sent to the list by Larry Cruse for your information. The
Maphist list has been discussing the use of that list as a sales tool. About
70% of the replys have been against 'sale' messages. One thread has been
the establishment of a web site or a list for such messages. This appears
to be a followup to that thread.------------------Johnnie

Andrew, et. al.,
we are setting up an automated approval/ordering system for
maps on the WAML Masp Librarian's Homepage. we did a test
cycle with a vendor and the UC/Stanford Map Librarian's
Group in january and will implement the automated sign-up
system at end of june (all institutional and commercial
parties welcome).
detils: we're working on a vendor fee structure to
make it self-sustaining, establishing minimum
record standards for automating through an acqusitions
dept., a few things like that. i'll put out a general
invitation as soon as we finish this academic quarter (circa
June 15th).
LC
Now if someone were to set up a new list, and , instead
of 'Maphist', call it 'Mapsell' ....
(Say it to yourself, slowly.)
