Subject: GIS/RS Coordinator Position in Belem, PA, Brazil
 
IPAM   The  Institute of Environmental Research for Amazonia, with
headquarters in Belim, Para state, Brazil, seeks a coordinator for its
Remote Sensing laboratory.  Duties include: coordination and execution
of technical and scientific projects, individual and team research on
development scenarios in Amazonia supervised by IPAM research program
coordinators, and technical consultation with other projects of the
institute on how to best employ the tools of Remote Sensing and
Geographic Information Systems in their research.
Experience: The criteria for filling this position include: Master s
degree in a pertinent field, with experience in digital satellite image
processing and geographic information systems, preferably applied to
topics in or related to the Amazon Basin region; fluency in English and
Portuguese, and familiarity with Arc/Info, ArcView, and Idrisi software
packages operating under Windows 95/NT. The selection will be based on
academic credentials and two letters of recommendation. Applications
should be received by September 20, 1998. The most qualified candidates
will be invited for interviews during the period of October 1   5, 1998.
Salary will be determined based on institutional policy and the
