series (fwd)
Hello,
The solution of this one is that the title was changed according
to Administrative Notes Technical Supplement as of January 31, 1998,
(vol. 5, no. 1).
EXCERPT FROM ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES
I 19.91: 0619-G-08 Miscellaneous Beginning with map no.
I-2522 change title to: Geologic
investigations Investigations series
series
Rea Mueller explained in 1998:
In August 1996, the USGS changed the I-map series name from
Miscellaneous Investigations Series to Geologic Investigations Series.
All geologic maps approved for publication after August 1996 will be
published in the Geologic Investigation Series. However, maps approved
for publication before that date will have the Miscellaneous
Investigation Series name. Eventually all maps will be in the Geologic

one who supplied the answer. Linda Zellmer

Hi, all,
I know we went through this before a few years ago, but what's the
situation with the USGS series Miscellaneous investigations
series/Geologic investigations series?
I am looking at the Crystal Coast N.C. satellite image map from USGS. It
is I-2758. The piece has the series as Miscellaneous investigations
series, but the GPO record traces the series as Geologic investigations
series.
Linda Zellmer, I believe, responded to this before, letting us know what
the intention of USGS was with regard to the I-series, but I wonder what
the current situation is. If the series is supposed to be Geologic ...,
why can't they just put it on the item?
Wondering,
