NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM
A KEY ROLE IN OUR NEW CENTRE FOR MARITIME RESEARCH
SPECIALIST IN NAVIGATION AND CARTOGRAPHY
c. £25,000 (pounds) + benefits
The National Maritime Museum is internationally renowned for its
unique collections documenting Britain's involvement with the
sea, past and present. We have just opened 16 new galleries and
we are planning a dedicated research centre that will encourage
and support pioneering studies based on the vast body of material
we hold.
We are searching for a flexible, enthusiastic, high-grade scholar
in the field of navigation and cartography to bring his/her
expertise to our team. You will provide an inspirational lead in
the interpretation and presentation of collections in your field
- shaping a collections policy, managing research activity and
contributing fully to new exhibitions and to the presentation of
our adult and continuing education programmes.
Qualified to postgraduate level, you should already have a
publications record in one of the above fields and have a strong
commitment to bringing history to life for people of all ages and
abilities. A confident, outgoing approach will also be important,
as will the ability to enthuse research associates and to act as
our spokesperson in the media and with other bodies.
Bring us the necessary imagination, energy and expertise, and we
can offer you an influential specialist role, with a high
academic profile and exciting scope for your own research.
Please send a letter and CV to: Personnel Services, National
Maritime Museum, Park Row, Greenwich, London SE10 9NF.
A full job description can be obtained from the above address or
from Dr Margarette Lincoln, Director, Centre for Maritime
Research. Email: [log in to unmask]
