I think this question has been brought up before...Does
anyone know how much load a map cabinet can handle? I have
talked to a couple map cabinet manufacturers that give
limited information or information that I don't know I
believe ---"You can stack our 5-drawer cabinets 8 high." I
know there is one older article on the subject, but has
anyone done anything recently? We have to come up with a
proposal for how to stack our map cabinets because we may
have to give up part of the space in the map room. Most are
already 4 high and full. I was looking for some kind of
documentation that may show what stacking our 7.5 Topo
cabinets (currently 2 high) would do. What is recommended
and what is safe? How does it affect patron access? Any
advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Shelly Burns
