Do you want information on the size of the market that will be doing conversions, period, or do
you want the size of only those companies that will "likely" be outsourcing the project? What we
are finding is that most companies that are large enough to have a significant source of convertable
material are set on doing the conversion in-house.
However, you mentioned conversion to CAD. I'm not sure if you mean the conversion to digital
data of any form or strictly to CAD and not CAM. There are significant differences. Generally, the
most likelt conversion is from hard-copy to ESRI products ArcInfo and ArcView (usually to .e00 or
ArcInfo export format) MapInfo is running a distant third with Microstation coming in next.
Are you guys looking into starting to do conversions? If so, let me know. We don't do the conversions
ourselves but it is a service that alot of our clients require.

Can anyone give me an estimate of the size (in US $) of the market for map
conversion services in North America, Europe, and worldwide ?
I'm talking about converting existing hard-copy maps and engineering
drawings to CAD format. I know it's a huge market, but need some figures.
If you don't know the figures offhand, but know of some pointers to
Websites that would also be appreciated. Any market research people reading
this ?
