The U.S.Geological Survey National Wetlands Research Center serves a
scientific community of approximately 100 biologists, ecologists,
statisticians, botanists, GIS specialists, and cartographers. The center is
part of the Biological Science Division of the Dept. of the Interior, U.S.
Geological Survey (USGS). The library is in the Technical Informatics
Branch of the center and the branch supplies assistance with information
management, editorial support and graphical design support for center
publications. The branch also supplies computer support for the center
hardware and software. The library is a member of the USGS Library
Consortium and offers a number of databases and electronic products to
center staff. The NWRC online catalog includes digital data and reports as
well as print materials, http://www.nwrc.gov/library.html

This announcement is for a Library Technician to manage the resource
sharing activities for the library using WorldCat and Ariel systems, manage
the journal collection, and to manage a collection of clippings and
archived center publications. The position will be vacant at the end of
June 2000. The position is offered through Johnson Controls World Services,
an onsite contractor for the center. Contact Mark Hilton
([log in to unmask]) or Judy Mouton ([log in to unmask]).

The center is located in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the heart of Cajun
Louisiana with plenty of opportunities for festivals, good food, good music
and with mild winters.
