I want to thank everyone for their responses to my question
about map load --keep them coming if anyone else has advice!
Yes, my colleague, Nadine Burroughs, and I are working on
the same project. For those of you that are looking for
more resources, Nadine found a good article:
Rieke, Judith. "Keepers of Maps: Some Advice on
Preservation." Wilson Library Bulletin. v.60, October 1985,
p.25-27.
This article gives approximate weights for cabinets and
maps.
If anyone does have the chart from Bahn, Catherine. Map
libraries--space and equipment in SLA Geography
&
Map Division Bulletin, 1961, no. 46, p.3-17. It was
reprinted in
Drazniowsky, Roman. Map librarianship: Readings. Metuchen,
NJ:
scarecrow
Press, 1975, p. 364-84, I would greatly appreciate it if you
would fax it to me (302-831-1732)
Thanks again, Shelly
