Subject: MAGERT programming in SF-- Census 2000
Sender: Mary McInroy <[log in to unmask]>

ALA's Map and Geography Round Table (MAGERT) is pleased to present an ALA
conference program on spatial data available from the 2000 census. This
program session will take place on Sunday, June 17 from 2:00 p.m. -- 5:30
p.m. in the Hilton & Towers Hotel (HIL), Continental BallRoom
6. Description from ALA's website is as follows:

"Census 2000: Opportunities and Challenges"

This program will present the wealth and variety of information available
from the 2000 Census. Speakers include a representative from the Census who
will talk about what data and geography will be available, representatives
from two companies that repackage TIGER files/census data on what products
they are developing, and a map librarian and a government documents
librarian will respond to the speakers and discuss what services they are
planning on providing to their users. Speakers: Jerry O'Donnell, Public
Information Officer, U.S. Bureau of the Census; Angela Lee, Libraries and
K-12, Environmental Systems Research Institute; Craig Cornelius, President,
GeoLytics; Barbara Levergood, Electronic Documents Librarian, University of
North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Lucinda Hall, Geography and Maps
Bibliographer, Dartmouth College.

Hope to see you there. Check out the rest of MAGERT's San Francisco
schedule at http://www.sunysb.edu/libmap/magprogs.htm, including time/place
listings for MAGERT committee meetings and discussion groups--something for
(most) everyone.
Mary McInroy, for the MAGERT Membership Committee.
