Proximity One offers state-by-state 5-digit ZIP Code maps in the ESRI shapefile format:

These are available without fee, but you'll need to register to obtain access to the
download area.  The principal of Proximity One is Warren Glimpse  - he's a gentleman
and I have never been spammed or received unwelcome email as a result of
registration.
