Those of you who are interested in colonial-era mapping of the American
Northeast may want to take a look at my online article at
<http://www.sunysb.edu/libmap/french/frenchne.htm>. The article is an
expanded version of a presention I gave at the American Library Association
conference in Toronto last summer. A summary and link to the article can
also be found at the ALA Map and Geography Roundtable (MAGERT) site at
<http://magert.whoi.edu:8000/conf/2003/details03.html>. The article is
likely to be of more interest to those with a general interest in the
subject than to experts in the field.

I produced the article in part as an experiment in how to format an "image
rich" online article concerned with the history of cartography. I hope
eventually to use it as an example to convince people of the value of an
online journal or series of papers in the field. I am still trying to
figure out the best way to format this type of material, and would
appreciate any feedback I can get from techies or just plain users.
